Do you often find yourself, especially busy moms, not being able to catch a
break? From taking care of your child’s needs 24/7 to running errands and doing
housework, it is only natural for us to get caught up with our daily lives and neglect our
personal well-being.
Having a self care routine once a week is something I look forward to. This is the time I focus on myself as an individual – relax, unwind and recharge for the coming weeks.
Here is what my typical self care routine looks like:
Step 1: Enjoy a luxurious warm bath
Having a nice bath to me means popping in my favorite bath bomb, sipping a glass of wine with soothing music playing in the background. This creates a perfect ambience to get lost in my own thoughts.
Step 2: Body and Skincare
After stepping out of bath, I enjoy putting on a moisturizing body cream. One of my favorites is the Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede Body Creme that smells divine. I then pop on my favorite face mask.
Step 3: Me-time
It could be things I enjoy like reading a book, painting my nails or binge-watching dramas.
Step 4: Mindful Journaling
Mindful journaling is essentially emptying one’s onto paper. It allows me to
reflect on my innermost thoughts, to discover why I feel or act a certain way. It is the
moment when I confront my negative emotions (e.g. fears, anxieties) and start the much-needed conversation with myself. I find that journaling has been an enormous
part of personal growth and it allows me to be more present.
After setting aside time to indulge in some self-pampering I have been meaning to do all week, the best feeling is to tuck myself to bed feeling relaxed and look forward to a brand
new day.
Dedicating specific times to do the things you love is not that difficult. It is definitely
worth it to set aside some time to yourself and unwind. Afterall, we cannot pour from an empty cup, can we?
